Dr Linda Walmsley
Fertility Specialist & Medical Director
Dr Linda Walmsley is a Fertility Specialist and Medical Director at Thrive Fertility, and one of its co-founders. She brings more than 15 years of experience across obstetrics, gynaecology and reproductive medicine, and is known among her patients for the thoroughness of her assessments and the warmth of her care.
Linda grew up and trained in South Africa, qualifying as a doctor before completing specialist training as an obstetrician and gynaecologist and sub-specialising in reproductive medicine. She credits much of her approach to the mentors and patients she encountered along the way, who showed her what compassion looks like in every circumstance — lessons that continue to shape the way she practises today. After relocating to Australia, she was awarded Fellowship with RANZCOG in 2017, and she remains an active member of the Fertility Society of Australia and New Zealand.
In Melbourne, Linda was part of the team that established the city’s first accessible, low-cost private fertility clinic in 2016. It proved a defining experience, and one that confirmed for her how much it matters to bring high-quality fertility care within reach of more people — a conviction that would later sit at the heart of Thrive.
An accomplished and meticulous clinician, Linda is valued for the care she takes in understanding each patient’s full picture before recommending a path forward. Patients frequently describe how seen and unhurried they feel in her care — a reflection of a practice built as much on relationship as on clinical skill.
As Medical Director, Linda works alongside Thrive’s specialists, embryologists, nurses and counsellors to ensure the care delivered is clinically excellent, evidence-based and grounded in compassion at every step. For her, fertility care is never simply a clinical exercise; she approaches each patient’s journey with a deep respect for what it means to them and the lives at its centre.
Linda believes fertility treatment is more than just science and technology and that each embryo is far more than just a few cells. She encourages discussion on the ethics of healthcare and fertility treatment.
Most of all, she believes that Life wants to happen!
