Dr Lisa Lee (PhD)
Scientific Director
Dr Lisa Lee is the Scientific Director at Thrive Fertility and brings nearly two decades of experience in reproductive science and IVF laboratory leadership. She combines advanced laboratory technology and evidenced-based science with a personalised, patient-centered approach to care. Lisa oversees laboratory operations, quality systems and clinical performance at Thrive Fertility, with a strong focus on optimising embryo culture conditions to support the best possible laboratory outcomes.
Lisa completed her Bachelor of Biomedical Science, First Class Honours degree in Embryology, and PhD at The University of Melbourne. Her doctoral research, completed under IVF pioneer Professor David Gardner, focused on how embryo culture and metabolism influence embryo viability and normality. She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in reproductive science.
Throughout her career in Hong Kong and Melbourne, Lisa has worked across several IVF laboratories in both scientific and leadership roles. She has led clinical research trials and managed one of Melbourne’s busiest IVF clinics. Lisa is also an active member of the scientific community, serving on the committee for Scientists in Reproductive Technology (SIRT) and as a Guest Lecturer at Monash University.
Lisa believes exceptional fertility care is built on scientific excellence, innovation and compassion. She is passionate about creating optimal laboratory environments through evidence-based practice and advanced technology, working closely with the clinical team to support the best possible patient outcomes.
She also brings personal insight to her role, having undergone two egg collection cycles herself. This experience has strengthened the empathy and understanding she brings to her work and reinforced the importance of clear communication and emotional support during treatment.
